Art that heals

James Robinson stands between two healthcare providers holding his artwork.

Our pediatric unit at Adventist Health Sierra Vista now features extraordinary intarsia artworks — mosaics made of wood — handcrafted and donated by local artist James Robinson: a gentle giraffe, an expressive panda, and a beautiful mare with her foal.

Robinson’s work is stunning up close. Every piece is carved, shaped, and assembled from dozens of individual wood segments that create depth, warmth, and character. Children, parents, and staff have responded with delight.

Art does not heal clinical conditions, but it absolutely heals something in the human spirit. These artworks bring warmth, color, and comfort into the county’s only dedicated pediatric unit, a place that cares for some of our youngest and most vulnerable patients during their most tender moments.

You can explore more of Robinson’s work here.
